The Mansion at Albury Park, which has been featured in many major films over the years, is situated in six acres of Grade l listed, 300 yr old, picturesque gardens. Access to the Mansion is through superb parkland bordered by the Tillingbourne river, and features deer, sheep, pheasant, partridge, heron and a multitude of other wildlife. The Mansion is crenellated with sixty-three Pugin designed chimneys seated behind its parapets.
The House is an impressive four stories high, mainly classically styled, of a powerful and impressive design, with some Gothicised features. The main circular courtyard provides access to the main house via a large gravel driveway which has a stone fountain in the centre. Intricate, gilded, wrought iron black gates access both courtyards and there is a major arch with huge wooden gates to the front of the property.
The Mansion has a large croquet lawn, superb views over the beautiful gardens and a gentle river overhung in parts with unusual species of trees.
Inside, The Mansion has extensive oak panelling with four staircases, the main one designed by Sir John Soane in stone and wrought iron embellished with gilded roses. The "Library” which was "The Great Room” was used by George III for his Coronation Ball and has a huge marble fireplace dating from 1648 and three panelled bay windows. Soane also designed the exquisite drawing room, with three-metre Pier glass in gilded frames carved with swags of spring flowers with foliate scroll cresting. Curved ceilings and a huge Waterford chandelier adorn this impressive and atmospheric room. Large sash windows, which rise from the floor, allow access to the lovely terrace and gardens beyond.
